our ethos

A thoughtful and responsible building practice is really important to us, and we consider this practice in everything we do.

INSIDE OUR

CONSTRUCTION ETHOS

At Keystone Construction, we believe in doing things properly, emphasising craftsmanship and the use of high-quality materials. As a dedicated green builder, we love the great outdoors and strive to tread as lightly as possible on the environment. Our commitment to sustainable construction is reflected in our approach to every project, whether it’s a custom home build or a high-end renovation.

A thoughtful and responsible building practice is of utmost importance to us. We integrate sustainable building practices and innovative, eco-friendly construction methods into everything we do, ensuring that our homes are not just beautiful but also energy-efficient. As HIA GreenSmart award-winning builders, we are proud to be part of the movement towards sustainable architecture. Our ethos includes a focus on residential sustainability solutions and the use of locally sourced materials to create low-energy homes that harmonise with their surroundings, including the stunning regions of the Surf Coast and Greater Geelong.

This means,

Choosing

Materials that are durable, have a low carbon footprint and are locally produced wherever possible

Building

Healthy homes that are free from polluting gas systems and have smart air filtration devices built right in

Working

With our clients to consider the house’s footprint and being adaptable with layouts to try and reduce that footprint as much as possible

Being

Very careful with our waste management — making sure we reduce, reuse and recycle as much as we can

Selecting

Responsible, locally sourced materials like rammed earth to create healthy, high performance houses that are more gentle on the environment

Engaging

with our clients early in the design process and sharing our knowledge and expertise, so they have all the information they need to make the most environmentally responsible choices for their particular build

“I want to build good, durable houses that are healthy, that are filled with light and that are better for the environment.”

The importance of Material Choices

“Rammed earth is a great low carbon material. In most cases, you’re using a local gravel that’s simply dug from the ground. That forms 95% of the wall! It gets built right on site so there’s very low carbon transport emissions. Rammed earth is beautiful — it adds all this texture and warmth — and it’s incredibly efficient. That thermal mass will charge up with solar energy and heat or cool the house just like a big battery.” Iain Wiebenga
